During the winter most people decide to wear hats to keep them warm, but are faced with the problem of putting on a hat and headphones when they want to listen to music. Recently, some companies have jumped to invent the beanie headset. The beanie headset uses a blue tooth connection to connect to mobile devices and has headphones that you can use to listen to music. The starting price of the item is 59 dollars.

I think that the idea of a hat/beanie with headphones in it is a great idea. Even though I don't listen to music that much, I like the idea of having the ability to call people using headphones while having a hat on. While this may not be a problem for people who live in states such as California or Florida, it is definitely a problem in Iowa, where you need to put a hat on to get from your front door to your car in the winter. I also think that the product in the article has a lot of room for improvements. It has a large control panel on the back that is used to turn on the device and house the blue tooth receiver. The device is pretty clunky, and I would assume that it would draw a lot of attention if you were just standing in a crowd. The material that the beanie is made out of is pretty skimpy compared to beanies at lower prices (people would probably want a hat the keeps them warm more than a hat with headphones in it that didn't keep them warm). I hope that some of the big audio companies start to make products like this. The idea is really good. I could see companies such as Apple or Bose getting into the mix as there would probably be a pretty decent market for the item. I also think that wearable tech like this could be taken to the next level and include features other than just providing sound. I could see hats that would act as air conditioning units (because if your head and your feet are cold then your body is cold because the head and the feet are where most of the heat in your body exits). I also think wearable tech such as this could be used to keep track of things such as heart beat rate, which could hint at potential future health problems.
I hope that people continue to improve upon this idea and that it becomes a more common site in the streets. It is a great idea that could easily be improved upon using modern day hardware components.
